Reception and Year 1 children meet in the Early Years playground (entrance at the signposted right hand side of the school) at 8.45 am and are taken into their classrooms by their class teacher at 8.55 am. Reception parents often take their children in to the classroom to hang their coat up and help them choose their lunch from the menu.
The older children (Years 2 to 6) meet in the main playground at 8.45 am when a member of staff is on duty. The whistle goes at 8.55 am and children are taken into their classrooms by their class teacher.
Children begin the morning with a daily act of Collective Worship followed by classroom aerobics. Literacy and Numeracy, Letters and Sounds and Group Reading are then enjoyed by all our children. After lunch our Topic based curriculum continues covering all the other subjects. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum encouraging children to become independent learners. We have high expectations of all our children and offer challenging opportunities for them all. During lesson time we support children who have any SEND (Special Educational Needs or Disability). The children in main school, Years 1 to 6, have 30 minutes PE lesson every day.
At the end of the school day teachers take each class on to the playground to be met by their parents.
Nursery and Reception staff plan new Topics together. Parents are kept informed of these by their newsletter.
KS1 (Years 1 and 2) staff plan a new Topic together every term and so do KS2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) staff.
School trips or visitors to the school are encouraged for each Key Stage to add another dimension to the learning and experience in each Topic.
Additional trips including a 3 day residential to Grafham Water, Young Voices and swimming lessons are enjoyed by the older year groups. The whole school go to the Pantomime every year and from Year 1 upwards a trip to the seaside is always looked forward to.
Every school year is filled with class assemblies, trips to the Church, School Performances, Topic days, Charity days and many other events.
